Pizza Rustica not to be missed! Of course, the pastries are divine, out of this world scrumptious...especially the lobster tails and the chocolate covered key lime pie and flour less chocolate cake topped with raspberries.

The first time we went to Landolfi's was when we moved here this past summer. We went in for happy hour and got no service for 15 minutes and walked out. The second time we went in it was a couple weeks later when it wasn't quite as busy. We sat at the bar and I am not sure if the waitress/bartender was having a bad day or not. Our service was sub-par and there was a waiter behind the bar brushing his hair, another waitress eating a sandwich, and what appeared to be an off duty waitress watching TV and constantly changing the channel. Well, the other night we went to another establishment down the road and were treated very well. I thought "Why not give Landolfi's one more chance?" So we went in and sat at the bar. We ordered two drinks and an appetizer. We got our drinks and were eating a bite, so far we were having a decent time. We decided to order a pizza to take home with us, so we ordered one to go, I also went to the other side of the restaurant and ordered some dessert for us as well. So it comes down for us to pay. I give the girl my debit card and she returns and says "your card is declined." I tell her that it must be a mistake because I just used it at the other restaurant, and I had plenty of money in my account (I verified this on my phone to make sure something hadn't happened). The waitress was starting to give me attitude like I was poor or something and said that it was my fault. I told her to please try and run it again, she did-I got the same result. She showed me the receipt and it said "not captured." I did not know what this meant so I asked to speak with the manager because she was obviously not willing to try and help me figure this out. The manager came out with a HUGE attitude and asked if I wanted to use another card, I said "no because this one has money on it." He begrudgingly went to the back and ran my card. He came up with the same error message-"not captured." At this point the entire bar was looking at us. I decided to call my bank-My bank proceeded to tell me that Landolfi's had not swiped my card correctly or the company they use to process cards was not doing it correctly. My bank put a block on my card because they felt there was fraudulent activity due to Landolfi's trying to run/process my card 19 times!!!!!! I had to verify some information with my bank for them to remove the block and they told me to wait 90 seconds to swipe and I should be fine. I asked for the manager again to let him know that my card was blocked for the possibility of fraudulent activity and he proceeded to say "So it wasn't our fault then was it? I was in shock to be talked to this way. He went in the back and ran my card and it went through just fine! I proceeded to tell him that we would not be back because of horrible customer service. Then the waitress chimed in and said "Well if you used a card with money on it we would not have had this problem!" WOW! I proceeded to tell the owner that he should be kind to locals as we help support their business during the non peak season. His reply was "Do you want me to kiss your as* just because your a local?" I have NEVER been talked to like this in any restaurant-even in New Jersey where these people are from. The customer service in real Jersey restaurants puts these people to shame! I learned through all this that the manager was the owner. He proceeded to call me an as* hole and other choice words. As I was leaving he flipped me off in front of the rest of the patrons. This place is anything but classy! I am sure they will respond to this vigorously with comments to rebut what I have said, don't believe a word. I went into my office the next day and most people were not shocked at all by what had happened. People were telling me similar stories. Some of my co-workers said"you should of asked me before going there, but I guess you had to find out the hard way!" This is truly a disappointment as they have lost a customer and all the people I know for life! there are many better options out there that actually treat their customers with respect. Go elsewhere!

Stumbled on this place during the drive from Myrtle Beach to Isle of Palms. What a find! Everyone in our party ordered the oven baked pizzas. It was the perfect blend of thin crispy crust and lots of toppings (a tough balance, many places have crispy crust and no toppings, or lots of toppings and soggy pizza). Great ingredients and great service. We took a box of their desserts home. This place has the best pastries. Made to order cannolis, hand filled when you order so the pastry isn't soggy. Cheese cake was excellent, so was the key lime pie AND the chocolate dipped key lime pie. Recommended stop if your traveling this way.

Excellent philly cheese steak, with chips and a pickle for $7.95. They have an awesome selection of desserts. The waitress said for me to try the peanut butter cheesecake, and it was great. Several people were eating pizza, and it looked really good. If you are in the area, I would definitely check this place out.

I was staying with family at Litchfield, and we wanted to find a good place for pizza, and Yelp pointed us here, so I thought I'd add another good review. I have no idea how many Italian restaurants are in the area, but this one is really good casual Italian. We all ordered pizzas. I created my own with artichoke and sausage. It was really good if I do say so myself. They make real wood fired pizzas; we would know because we sat in the room with the oven in it. The crust is closer to a thin crust than it is to a traditional crust. I thought it was good because it let me eat more of my pizza before I got full. It was a great find because we were in the mood for good pizza, and that's what we got.

We had some pretty good pizza here--The crust was a little too sweet, but it was chock full of toppings. I had a canolli for dessert and it was ok.

I live in Surfside and eat out at least 14 times a week this is my favorite place to eat from the NC line to Georgetown. The Key Lime pie is to kill for.

Wonderful Chicken Salad!!!! Pastries phenomenal! Favorite place in Pawleys!

Lunch today! Pizza for the wife - perfect except the final olive oil drizzle not to her liking. Thin crust wood fired pizza as in NYC. Exactly as described on the menu. For me, the self professed "Sub Snob" an Italian sub. Homemade roll was perfect. A little bit of leathery crust with flaky interior. Good quality lunch meats and lots of them. Neither of us finished our meal. The patio was peacefull. Great place!

The building is a little hard to find and not very large but the food inside is worth the search. The sandwiches and brick-oven pizzas are all excellent but save room for the best part - the bakery items, made fresh daily.

Stopped here for lunch on the way back to Charleston after spending the weekend after Christmas in Litchfield. I'm glad it was closed over the weekend after Christmas because had I been able to come earlier I may not have gone anywhere else. Split a calzone with Precious as well as a bowl of artichoke soup. It's calling me . . . I hear it. Road-trip in my near future.

Landolfi's is a great stop between Charleston and Myrtle or vice versa. The only problem is that I can rarely go because of their crazy hours. Let's say I go up for a visit and come home on a Sunday... nope they're closed. Maybe it's a long weekend and I come home on a Monday... still closed. Okay now, maybe it's a random Tuesday or Wednesday for some reason and I want to stop in for dinner... wrong again, they close at 5. I've also tried to stop in mid day and was told that they turn the ovens off for cleaning at that time of day and couldn't serve me. With all the other times they're closed, one would think they could clean the brick ovens at a more opportune time. Strange hours aside, I really do love Landolfi's. The brick oven pizzas as well as the toppings are always delicious. Salads, soups, and calzones are great too. If you're not able to stop for a meal, there's still reason to stop in. The dessert case... It's unreal! Last time I came in we took desserts with us to share, peanut butter cheesecake, toffee cheesecake, a profiterole roll, and of course a canoli. I have to say, we didn't end up sharing them and pretty much dove into the box before bed. Not one my proudest moments, but I don't regret it either.

We stopped at Landolfi's today, for an early lunch. I ordered my favorite, Pizza Rustica and my friend ordered their Sausage and cheese Calzone. Our meal was incredible and, being from NJ, compared it with DeLorenzo's and Pappa's in the Berg. Gary and Suzanne, you two brought the best of the best to the south. I love what you do in that wood fired oven! If you're in the mood for a tomato pie/thin crust pizza, you have to get here. On Friday they have Philly Cheesesteaks on their own baked Italian rolls. Better than anything I ever got from Pat's or Geno's in Philly. Service is excellent, atmosphere is warm and friendly and the food is outstanding.

The pizza is fantastic and the service can't be beat. The worst thing about this place is the parking but the food and pastries make up for the lack of parking. Great food and great service is what this place is about.

  • Rob S.

A nice place and friendly service, but I was underwhelmed by the food. We chose this place over a normal pizza joint because it was wood fired and knew we'd be paying a premium. The pizzas/calzones/Stromboli/are sized for a single person and are about $11 each. We couldn't detect and 'smoky' flavor or hint of being cooked in a wood fired oven. I had a calzone, and it was decent but wished I'd opted for a regular pizza joint for a third of the price. They did appear to have great dessert choices and coffee /espresso, but we didn't try those. We had 4 people and had a calzone, stromboli and two pizzas. They seemed to use quality ingredients, I just didn't feel it was worth the much higher price.

My co workers and I order lunch from here often. Super nice employees. This place is very busy which is a great sign... be sure to turn to park in back lot before the street signage as front is always full. It's always fast and delicious. Ive tried most of the paninis and all were good. Last Time I had the personal pizza which was so yummy. Some menu items have more intense flavor that others. Just ask the employees and they always help me in deciding based on my palate for the day. They have fruit as a side or homemade chips. There's chicken salad and coffee, iced tea, or Italian sodas. Don't forget to checkout the pastry case! Oh my goodness those chocolate covered raspberry cake slices look incredible. Key lime pie and fruit tarts.

Disappointed since the reviews were so great. Pizza was okay, should have been grilled a little longer. I got the banana cake since reviews showed their desserts were excellent.. Not impressed at all, threw it out. :( my husband enjoyed his pizza.. But we were starving.

If you're looking for a quality pizza experience you can't go wrong here. We eat here every time we're in town! The house salad, wood roasted chicken pizza, and various pastry desserts never disappoint. The service is great and you can't beat the price. Give it a try...I promise it will become your favorite place too!

Great little Italian place with outstanding food. The selection of in house fresh pastries will astound you and they taste amazing. We had a pizza and a sandwich and both were outstanding. This is one of those little "local joints" that are a jewel when you find them.

  • Andrew S.

You might miss it from the road, but you'll be glad that you skipped the bigger, flasher restaurants if you stop here. Looking for authentic Italian pizza? Stop here! I also got an espresso after dinner and I found it to be spot on. Great service.

Soooo good! Got the chocolate covered key lime pie, which was perfect. Creamy, tart, with a dark chocolate shell that didn't overpower it or render it painfully sweet. Then we got the flourless chocolate torte that was topped with raspberries covered in chocolate. It was delicious but after the 3rd bite, it was too rich. We also got this really yummy thing Pasticiotti (sp)? It was awesome, sort of a custard inside this crumbly, buttery dough but way better than my description. Just trust me on this one The profiteroles were kind of a bummer compared to the other stuff. Cream inside had great texture but not much taste. The choux pastry itself was a bit stale. Staff was also really friendly, genuinely friendly and willing to explain what each item was & give recommendations. Didn't eat dinner there but I gotta tell you the patrons we saw as we ordered our pastries to go, well let's just say I will definitely be back to try some of their entrées. Those were some stuffed, happy looking people!

Best pizza ever! It's a small place so we prefer their outdoor seating. Service is good and don't forget the awesome desserts like profiterole!!!

We made the brief trek from Surfside Beach to Pawley's Island specifically to check out Landolfi's, which had been recommended to us. We arrived at 3:00, a time that is ordinarily between shifts for most restaurants, and when service might be lacking. This was not the case at Landolfi's. When we came in, we hesitated at the door, trying to decide if we should go into the very comfortable, stylish bar at right, or the more traditional dining area which had tables. We were immediately greeted by the bartender (Kendall), who welcomed us and invited us to sit in either place. She had a sunny disposition and her very warm welcome made the decision for us - we headed straight to the bar. Having spent my college years in the restaurant industry, I tend to notice details when I'm in a restaurant. The first thing that jumped out at me, before we even ordered our drinks, was that the bar, cocktail seating area, and everything in sight was SPOTLESS. There was not so much as a speck of dust anywhere. Since we'd come between major meals, we had intended to have an appetizer, drinks and maybe a dessert (since they are a bakery). However, there are no appetizers. The menu features several key sections - subs, panini, soup and salads and brick oven pizzas. Kendall highly recommended the steak and cheese, which she says usually is completely sold out by 6:00. So we decided to give it a try. Among the options for side items was a baked potato salad, which she also recommended. I am no fan of potato salad, but she was so enthusiastic about it, I decided to try it. SO GLAD I DID. Holy cow. OK...the food. Here goes: the sub was exceptional. It was served on homemade, fresh baked (french bread?) sub roll. The meat was tender, flavorful and good quality. The baked potato salad was to die for - it was made of red bliss potatoes, and truly tasted just like a baked potato. The salad had cheese, bacon and green onion in it. I could have easily had that by itself. We really enjoyed the food, but also appreciated the very attentive staff. Kendall checked on us regularly, kept an eye on our drink levels, and offered friendly conversation. Bonnie, who was also bartending, was equally attentive and they were both extremely welcoming, professional and projected an attitude of teamwork. We were tremendously impressed with both of them, as well as the restaurant. So much so, that we decided to go back the next day! Day two (also late day - 3:30ish), we started with pasta fagioli, which was freshly made that morning and served with homemade bread. We then split a pizza - the carmelata with pepperoni added (this was recommended to us by Bonnie). It was spectacular. The pizza was perfectly cooked, thin crust, fresh ingredients and the flavors of the caramelized onions and gorgonzola cheese came through in every bite. The pepperoni was thin cut,and from a large roll. Hadn't seen pepperoni like that but it was really great, and without any greasy fat blobs that sometimes are in pepperoni. Really good. Two thumbs up on the pizza. On a side note, I also tried one of the homemade sangrias - the white wine one - which had a variety of fresh fruits flavoring it for a perfect, refreshing blend. Wish I'd tried it the day before, too. Will definitely be having that when I go back! They had two options for sangria - a white wine based and a red wine based. The only item I was less than impressed with was the tiramisu, which was surprising. I've got quite the sweet tooth and had actually headed to Landolfi's to try dessert. Kendall and Bonnie both highly recommended the Lobster Tail, which is a pastry with cream inside, but I can't resist tiramisu so we got that. Probably should have tried their recommendation. The tiramisu was okay, but not great. It was quite dry, and while the cream on top looked great, it wasn't terribly creamy. The whole thing felt like it needed kahlua or something poured over it - was just too dry. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. I neglected to mention that the atmosphere is great at Landolfi's and they have a super nice bar area and even more quaint, covered outdoor patio that would be fantastic on a summer's night. The staff are all great, seem sincerely invested in the business and committed to making the experience a great one. Highly impressed - a new favorite!

Every time we come to Myrtle Beach, we make the trip to Pawley's Island just to go to Landolfi's. It is always a treat. We know that we are going to get a great meal and experience fantastic service. That is why we keep coming back. Thanks for another great meal!

We went for a late lunch here- directed by a local. I could not be more happy. That pizza was amazing. As was the summer sangria. As was the house salad. Pure perfection! So happy somebody pointed us that direction. The pizza was crunch and crisp. Amazing toppings. Quality ingredients. Real food. Yum. The salad has a yummy vinaigrette. Light and yummy. We didn't make it to the deserts...but the case was drool worthy! Yum! Yum!

My wife and I live in Pawleys, less than a mile from Landolfi's. Typically do take out. Simply put, the food is consistent, always high quality ingredients, freshly prepared, and very satisfying. Dine in or take out, you will not be disappointed with Landolfi's.

Food is delish. Quaint atmosphere. Pasta fagioli soup is awesome. Ruben is to die for. All pastry and desserts are melt in your mouth. Specifically choc covered key lime. Oh and of course their pizzas... You can't miss it.

I can not review the bakery only the lack of pastries and desserts. After eating dinner at our hotel, I inquired with our hotel clerk as to where we could go eat dessert and have a cup of coffee. He recommended Landolfi's and he mentioned how good the pastries were. He asked us to wait until he could check to make sure the restaurant would still be open. He advised us the restaurant would be open until 9:00 pm so we decided to give it a try. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:45 pm to find, very few pastries or desserts in the enclosed case. We inquired with the staff if there were any additional items available since were not interested in the few remaining items. The employee only offered, "It has been a busy day" and returned to cleaning. My wife and I left without any further contact with the staff. It appeared the business was more concerned with closing early than serving customers.

I visit this restaurant a few times a year when I'm down in SC. This place has to be one of my favorite restaurants, everything is superior. They have amazing pizza that I long for, keep in mind I normally live in the NJ/NY area so I know what pizza is. The desserts here are also outstanding. Go for the chocolate decadence, it's perfect and isn't over sweet like it may sound. For pizza, go for the Tuscan with the Gorgonzola and pine nuts or even just a plain. The deli sandwiches are also delicious, the bread is very tasty. The service is always great and I can't wait to return soon!

Have your pizza your way... plus some interesting signature pizzas... we liked the Rustica. Small house salads were fresh and not just a few greens slapped on a plate. Wine by the glass was equivalent to a 1/2 carafe. The desserts make the trip. All home made "everything"... Will be one of our favorite low cost quality eat-outs. We dined on the other side of the bar... an open/outdoors venue. Saleeby Score: Service: 9/10, Food 8.5/10, Venue: 8/10 Better than Yay I'm a fan, but not quite WooHoo!

I took my Mom to lunch here for her birthday. We both had Hoagies, and they were served on the most DELICIOUS homemade Italian bread. It was incredible and HUGE. The hoagies were served with a side of kettle cooked chips and pickle. We each only ate half of our sandwiches. I really wanted to try the pizza- they use a wood fired brick oven to cook it. It is a Neapolitan style. In addition to these amazing sandwiches, they are a BAKERY!! YAY! We had the Fruit Tart and a slice of thick chocolate something. They were good. We got the Chocolate covered Key Lime Pie and the Pina Colada Cheesecake to go. They had so many good looking desserts!!! Several selections of cheesecake, Carrot cake, Cannolis, Lobster Rolls, Apple Crumb Pie, the list goes on and on. If you are in the area, you must stop here for lunch and dessert!! The waitstaff was friendly and it was a laid back, yet a bit upscale atmosphere. So we had two huge hoagies, and 4 desserts and the total was $35.00...not to bad.

We ate here on a family vacation and really enjoyed our experience. We were a party of 8 and came here on a Saturday for lunch. I thought it would be a long wait because of the reputation in the area, but even with a big party we were seated pretty quickly. It was kind of a rainy, cold day in May and our table was in an enclosed patio next to a roaring fireplace. Everybody enjoyed their meals. I had the cheesesteak (which was a special for that day) and I thought it was great. The staff was really nice, their homemade bread was fantastic, the desserts were excellent, and there were big portion sizes. We'll definitely be back and I recommend this place to anyone in the area.

Can't say enough good things about this place! Definitely go there! But, you may want to call before hand to check hours. I feel like they're not open all that often, or at least whenever I pass by! I recommend the chicken panini and the canollis!

If ever in Pawleys Island, SC and need a fantastic cheesesteak or delicious pizza or wonderful desserts, go to Landolfis. But not on a Sunday or Monday -they are closed - or Tuesday or Wednesday for dinner-closed again. Landolfis can be hard to find, it located on the west side of Hwy 17 across from the Food Lion in Pawleys. Great outdoor patio to enjoy the spring or fall breeze. Very casual atmosphere but not unusual to see some people dressed up. Beer and wine bar only. Also, probably the best food quality in PI and the best service for sure.L

Terrific thin crust pizza! They have a wood fired stone oven in the back that churns out some great pies. The ingredients are all super fresh and high quality. The italian deserts are a huge attraction as well. These guys originated in New Jersey and thankfully brought their superior pizza making skills down south. The wait staff can be a little frigid and rough around the edges sometimes, but who cares, the food is fantastic!

We eat here every year on our family vacation. Everyone loves their pizza and their house salad. I like the Rustica and the Carmellata pizzas the best. They have fabulous desserts. Their desserts run low by the end of the evening so get there early if you want a full selection. This year I tried the summer sangria which was one of the best sangrias I've ever had. We came with a party of 12 so we expected to wait and did. Usually we have to split up since the place is small, but last year they sat us together on the patio which was great. We look forward to next year!

We have only done take out from here twice but both times the sandwiches and panninis were excellent. The presto sauce is very good and my husband loves the Pauly's porker pannini The home made desserts are orgasmic! I recommend the pb cheesecake and the chocolate cake with chocolate covered raspberries

What a fantastic little italian eatery. Upon arrival, they have outside seating, a bar area and inside cafe style eating. There is a massive (!!) dessert counter where all sweets are made on site, every morning. My favorite dessert is the Lobster Tail, think cream puff mixed with cannoli. For actual lunch and dinner foods they have wide varieties of oven fired pizzas and tastey combinations of panninis. My favorite lunch combo is a soup and the house salad, of course this allows room for the Lobster Tail. Service is friends and it's not outrageously priced either. Hours are a little odd so call ahead or look them up to be sure they are open. Remember - Go for the Lobster Tail!

Really good food. Had salad and a pizza. We got gorgonzola/onion/mushroom and its probably my fault for not loving it. The crust and ingredients were really good, I just didn't care for the combo. I can tell if I got something else that it would have been a great pizza. Desserts were great too!

Amazing! Get a pizza, and save room for something from the bakery case. We had a pizza with spinach, ricotta, and black olives, and it was simply marvelous! We also tried a panini with eggplant and roasted red peppers. It was good, but the pizza completely overshadowed it. Finally, we shared a cannoli for dessert. Heavenly!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
